Churchill Downs to Grand Ole Oprey to Loretta Lynn's Ranch.
We didn't actually stop at Buck Snort, I just like saying it. It is one exit before Loretta Lynn's ranch where we are bedded down for the night next to a peaceful river..

Yesterday we made a stop at the Kentucky Horse Farm in Lexington, where there was a big event going on and no parking for us. We did catch a brief glimpse at the Man'O'War statue.
We then drove over to Louisville to see Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Derby is next weekend. Big disappoint that we weren't there at 7:15am to watch this year's contenders work out.

We started today at Mammoth Cave National Park where we got to take advantage of Barbara's senior pass to camp for only $10.
Ed had some business to take care of so we got an early start and headed down the freeway to park next to a McDonald's for the free WiFi.
Unfortunately, the headlights were turned on when leaving the campground and we forgot to turn them off while we were parked. This resulted in a dead battery and we learned despite what we were told AAA won't come to help an RV.
Luckily we had a battery charger so after a few minutes running the generator to charge the starter battery, we were good to go to the Grand Ole Opry.

We were going to just take a KOA site (the RV equivalent of Motel 6), but we saw the signs to Loretta Lynn's place and had to go check it out. So very glad we did.

We're staying in a campground to ourselves next to the empty horse barn on the river.

This beautiful heron was fishing the river. The water is very clear and we saw a lot of small fish. It must have been a buffet for the heron.

With the campground to ourselves it was a good place to let Chloe roam. She particularly liked the horse barn.

There was a nice pile of wood waiting for us that we took full advantage of.

And a nearly full moon on the rise added to the ambience..

We might just have to stay another night.
