Today will be a short post because yesterday was a lazy day at the beach.

For those of you not familiar with the European style of beach going, there is usually a bar / restaurant with beach chairs set up in high density in front of it. On many beaches and even this one further toward the center of town, the restaurants are so close together you don't really see the beach anymore. Just solid umbrellas lining the whole beach.

The beach club associated with the resort we are staying with has the advantage of open beach on either side of it and not such tight density of umbrellas as some of the others. We had a chairs with mostly unobstructed views to the ocean. It was a very pleasant day and very relaxing.

The resort staff comes down around 9:30 am and sets up music on the beach. At first the music was quite mellow and relaxing. The sea is a perfect temperature. There is some sand, but the beach is mostly smooth small stones. Our beach shoes worked very well. You can see Barbara floating in the sea part way through the video.

Then after the warm-up they went for a swim and the music got progressively louder. One thing I noticed was that these old folks were singing along to the words of the songs. We didn't know the songs, they were Italian pop tunes. It was kind of nice to see all the old folks having fun and singing their hearts out.

At lunch time we opted to walk down the beach to a slightly larger seafood restaurant rather than the sandwiches that were offered at our beach club.

This is Beppo's Seafood restaurant. You can see the density of the umbrellas at this place in the middle picture. The food was delicious, but in the heat Barbara couldn't finish her Spaghetti Carbonara. It made a nice dinner last night.

That was our day. I finished the book I was reading on Leonardo Da Vinci. I've noticed a lot of the people here look like the people in his sketches. Go figure :)

Looks very relaxing and also looks like Phuket beaches. I hope you didn't have vendors walking through the umbrella area trying to get you to buy their wares.
