Monday we headed to the Mauthe Lake Regional Recreation Area. This Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources campground is the one that we lived at for several weeks in 1968 when moving from Illinois to Grafton, Wisconsin. It was a nostalgic stop for me.

Sunset Thursday night.

Tuesday morning was beautiful. Monday, it rained hard all day.

Only a small portion of the 3.2 mile trail around the lake was open to pets.

He was getting a bag full of blue gills

Jen loaned us her 4Runner, so we were mobile, which was good. We were surrounded by water on three sides. Trees were recently cut down and were laying in the water.. It wasn't the most attractive site.

The saving grace was the show put on by the Articulated Woodpeckers doing their mating dance.

The video doesn't capture the making dance of the male or the fact that there were three red heads waiting their turn in the woods behind.

Pat had to start the work week early. We picked up his truck on Sunday to shorten his drive on Monday.

Can you guess what kind of truck Pat drives and what his job was on Monday?

I was working on my part time backlog, too.

Tuesday we went to Fredonia to see Steve. We all took a trip to Port Washington for lunch at Culver's.

Another shot of us at Culver's.

Thursday night we met Pat and Jen at Jugs for Thursday night Prime Rib and Lobster dinner. We all had the Prime Rib. It was really, really delicious.

Not only great tasting but affordable. Thursday was "two for one prime rib" so the meal was a bargain, too.

Always good to have the local advice.
