This morning I couldn't see the mountains from the house so I thought better to explore the lowlands. I headed toward Chiang Mai city and came face to face with a large group of runners in an organized event of some kind.

Rather than fight it, I went with the flow and headed in the direction of the night safari, which is the local zoo.

Before that I want to share a clip from later in the day. The last couple of days we've had many butterflies in the garden. Of course when I went out to take pictures there was only one. It was pretty friendly though and let me get up close to it.

This is the drive into the night safari.

The zebras keep an eye on the flamingos from across the road.

After leaving the night safari I headed down a smaller country road to Ban Pong. It was here I came across the Department of Bees. Actually it's cool that they have a department dedicated to the preservation of bees.

This s a meditation center back on the road to Samoeng. The chickens seem to be very similar to the ones running around in Hawaii.

Next I headed back to the old city. I found Wat I was looking for. This is the one giving cheap massage by very experienced masseuse.

It's called Wat Pan Whaen.

There are so many Buddhist temples here they have to compete for donations. This one raises money by doing massage. We enjoyed going there during previous visits.

150 Baht for a one hour massage is.less than $5.

From there it should be an easy drive to Faces, where we had coffee with Petra in 2016. Not so easy after all. Google had the location wrong. With enough driving around I was able to find it.

Time to go home.

And give the dog a bath.
